Living in a time of a global pandemic is a once in a hundred-year occurrence and what you are doing, feeling, and living with now is unique and will be profoundly interesting to you (and even others) in the future. So why not document this time with either a scrapbook, a journal or a time capsule? Future you will thank you for taking the time to do this and it will be invaluable to look back and appreciate what you lived through.
SCRAPBOOK
Items You Will Need:
- A blank scrapbook
- Craft supplies
- Pens; and
- Keepsakes to glue to it.
How to Create It:
- Give your scrapbook a punchy title and let your creativity fly
- Use your surroundings for inspiration, there is no right or wrong way to do this; and
- Consider using images and photos or things you would normally be doing at this time and juxtapose it with what you are currently doing. Cut out pictures and words from magazines, print out photos, write quotes from family members, fun memories, and draw illustrations of how you spend your time.
JOURNAL
Things you will need:
- A blank journal or notebook; and
- A pen.
How to Create It:
- Start with a date at the top of each page and pour your thoughts and feelings onto the page
- If nothing else, journal writing is a fabulous way of making sense of feelings and bringing meaning and understanding to your thoughts
TIME CAPSULE
Things you will need:
- A box or container; and
- Keepsakes to store inside.
How to Create It:
- Select the container or vessel you want to use as your time capsule
- Collect an assortment of things of importance to you. It doesn’t have to be the actual item, it can be a picture or a drawing of it
- Decide on a ‘to be opened date’ and write it on the front; and
- Hide the time capsule somewhere where you will never see it and not be tempted to open it prematurely.
