The best chance of obtaining a place is to submit an application as early as possible. For those who submitted an application before 1 May 2018, this means that your child’s application will be considered by the date of application. For those who submitted an application on or after 1 May 2018, your child’s application will be considered by their age at registration.
The waitlist for every Year level is different and each waitlist changes from week-to-week, including reasons such as families changing their desired entry level, moving away, or due to the nature of the Canberra workforce, families posted overseas. This means that it is very difficult to give an accurate indication of your chances of obtaining a place, particularly if you have applied for entry in a Year that is not a main entry point. This is also the reason we do not give your child a ‘number’ on the waitlist, as their position will be changing often.
We understand that you may move to Canberra at short notice for a variety of reasons and therefore will not have registered your child from a young age; this does not mean you have no chance of obtaining a place. Each Year level is different, and each time of year is different. The best thing to do in this instance is to call the Admissions Office to enquire about availability.
