We are delighted that you are considering Canberra Grammar School for your family. Enrolments for 2024 are finalised for all year levels. We are finalising enrolments for main entry points for 2025 and have begun the enrolment process for all main entry points for 2026.

We do not close applications and you may submit one at any time, however, we strongly encourage you to Book a Phone Call or submit an Enquiry Form to ask about availability in 2024, 2025 and 2026 before submitting an application.

ENROLMENT PROCESS

STEP 1: EXPLORE THE SCHOOL

We strongly encourage you to explore CGS before submitting an application. You can start by browsing our website, particularly ‘Why Join CGS?’, though an Open Day or Regional Visit will give you the best insight into what the School can offer.

STEP 2: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION

Submit a simple online application, including a registration fee of $200, and your child will be added to the nominated waitlist. After successfully submitting the application you will receive an email containing a Confirmation of Registration letter and receipt of payment.

The main entry points (or intake years) to CGS are Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten at Northside, Kindergarten at Red Hill, Years 3, 5, 7 and 11, and any year as a Boarder.

STEP 3: CONFIRM YOUR CONTINUED INTEREST

Admissions emails all waitlisted families two years prior to entry for our main-entry points, requesting submission of an online Confirmation of Interest Form. This allows us to consolidate our waitlists based on who is still interested in seeking admission.

If your response is not received we must assume that you are not seeking admission for the nominated entry year.

It is key that you update your contact details if they change to ensure we can communicate with you at this step.

Please note that if you apply for a main entry point within the two years prior to entry, you will not need to submit a Confirmation of Interest.

STEP 4: LETTER OF OFFER

Offers are made in the order set out in our Admissions Policy and ultimately in the order of age at application, as early as 20 months from the entry year. For the remaining places we progress through the waitlist in the subsequent months. A place is secure when the signed Enrolment Contract and payment of the School Renewal Charge are received, but is not finalised until an interview has been conducted.

STEP 5: INTERVIEW

Every applicant is interviewed by CGS Staff in the year prior to entry. It is a key component in the Enrolment Process and with reference to your child’s reports, is the first step in the School getting to know you and your child. Families who are overseas can be interviewed online. Boarders will take a tour of the Boarding House if they have not already.

STEP 6: ENROLMENT FINALISED

Following endorsement from the interviewer, your child’s enrolment to CGS is finalised.
