The House system plays a vital role in the Senior School. It is the fundamental structure of our pastoral care and wellbeing programme. It brings students together in group where they feel a sense of belonging and encourages them to mentor and support each other, with older students assisting younger ones.
Students are allocated a house when they join CGS. They are then put into smaller tutor groups within their House, overseen by Heads of Student Houses, Tutors (teaching staff) and student leaders, so that care and support is targeted in a smaller space. This helps to build the students’ confidence and a breadth of school-based and life skills, to support social development, and academic efforts and outcomes.
The vertical structure of the House system gives students continuity throughout their years at the School and ensures students always have someone they know to turn to when needed.
