It has been a big few weeks for Senior HSC Geography, with students out in the field across some of Australia’s most iconic environments. Fieldwork is embedded at the core of Geography at CGS, enabling students to apply their learning in real contexts and develop the skills essential for senior study.

Our Year 12 students headed to Berry to explore rural-urban change, then Jervis Bay marine park to investigate human impacts on the Great Southern Reef ecosystem, snorkelling through kelp forests, recording observations and collecting primary data. It was an amazing experience for 18 CGS girls who had the opportunity to play Try Tag Rugby against Daramalan in front of nearly 10,000 spectators at GIO Stadium during the Brumbies vs Chiefs match this past weekend.

Canberra Grammar School’s Harmony Week celebrations embraced the diverse cultural and religious backgrounds within the CGS Community.

Students across the Primary and Senior Schools were encouraged to wear cultural clothing, the colours of their flag or add a splash of orange to their uniform. During the week, cultural performances and a bake sale were held in the Quad during lunchtime in the Senior School, where students also contributed to the 2026 Harmony Day handprint banner alongside CGS Arts Captain, Sophia, which was hung above the Main Quad for the week.

In the Primary School Assembly, the book 'Happiness Around the World' by Kate Baker was discussed, celebrating how happiness is experienced by people around the globe. At our Northside campus, special speakers from our community visited to share stories and insights into their cultures with students.

It was a joyous week that provided a valuable opportunity for our students to delve into cultural beliefs and values, recognising how our differences and similarities strengthen our community. Harmony Week celebrates inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

On Tuesday 31 March,

On Tuesday 31 March, CGS Year 12 students will take part in a long-standing, student-led initiative, shaving or cutting their hair as a symbol of solidarity with individuals and families impacted by cancer. This meaningful tradition reflects the compassion and leadership of our students, as they come together to support the hope that exists in the fight against cancer.

All proceeds will go towards the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, which supports Australia's leading paediatric health services, offering world-class, safe, and friendly environments for children.
