Educating generations of Canberra families

A community, not just a campus

A primary school in Canberra’s inner north built on connection

Located in Campbell, our Northside Campus is one of two CGS primary campuses serving Canberra families. It is deliberately small — around 100 students from Pre-School to Year 2 — because we believe that knowing every child is a small thing that matters in a big way.

Students benefit from the personalised attention that only a small campus can offer, while accessing the full depth of Canberra Grammar School’s resources, values, and community. The natural surroundings of our inner-north setting make it an ideal environment for early years learning.

After Year 2, students make a supported transition to our Red Hill Campus, continuing their CGS journey through to Year 6 and into Senior School.

LEARNING AT EVERY STAGE, PRE-SCHOOL TO YEAR 2

Our programmes are carefully sequenced to meet children where they are and stretch them toward where they can go.

Early Learning

Pre-School (4-year-old programme)

Play-based and inquiry-driven, our 4-year-old Pre-School programme builds the social, emotional, and early literacy foundations that set children up for confident learning. Every child’s natural curiosity is treated as a resource.

Looking for a 3-year-old Pre-School programme? That is available at our Red Hill Campus.

Primary

Kindergarten – Year 2

In Kindergarten, children transition into more structured learning without losing the spirit of exploration. Creativity, play, and academic progress sit side by side — as they should at this age.

In Years 1 and 2, students build growing independence as readers, writers, and thinkers. Close teacher–student relationships ensure every child is supported and extended at their own pace.

The IB journey starts at pre-school

Canberra Grammar School is an authorised IB World School. At Campbell Campus, students enter the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) from their very first year.

The IB Approaches to Learning are built around five transferable skill categories – taught across every IB programme and embedded in every subject.

  1. Thinking
  2. Communication
  3. Social
  4. Self-management
  5. Research

The PYP is delivered alongside the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.

Before, After and Holiday Care at Canberra Grammar School

CGS Care – Canberra Grammar School’s own before-school, after-school, and holiday care programme – is available at Campbell Campus for children from Pre-School to Year 2. The programme is managed directly by the School, not outsourced.

Our educators actively engage children in a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities.

A clear path from first day to graduation

Common questions about CGS Campbell Campus

What year levels does the Campbell Campus offer?

The CGS Campbell Campus offers Pre-School, Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2. After Year 2, students transition to the CGS Red Hill Campus to continue their primary education.

How many students are at Campbell Campus?

Approximately 100 students across Preschool to Year 2. This small enrolment is intentional — it ensures every child receives personalised attention and every family feels genuinely connected to the campus community.

Where exactly is the Campbell Campus located?

The Campbell Campus is at 33 Blamey Crescent, Campbell ACT 2612 — in Canberra’s inner north, making it an accessible choice for families living or working in Braddon, Dickson, Ainslie, Hackett, Downer, and surrounding suburbs.

    What happens after Year 2?

After Year 2, students make a planned, supported transition to the CGS Red Hill Campus for Years 3–6. The CGS community travels with them — the same values, the same culture, the same care. The transition is structured so students feel ready, not rushed.

Is the Campbell Campus part of the same school as the CGS Red Hill Campus?

The Campbell Campus is one of two CGS primary campuses. Both campuses are part of Canberra Grammar School — an independent Anglican school and IB World School — so Campbell Campus students are full CGS students from day one, with access to the full network of staff, resources, and community.
